My initial SEO challenge began in 1999.
That's
when I was thrown into the deep end of the pool after being "promoted"
to the
newly-created position of Internet Sales Manager and keeper of the
company website at a
high-volume Chevrolet dealership in Albany, NY.
Unfortunately, despite a decade of car
sales/marketing experience, I entered my new job with zero previous
web-mastering background.
Aside from the scores of local and
regional auto retailers with whom we were competing for Internet
superiority, the number of American Chevy stores was over 4,500
— a dozen of which had
the word "Albany" in their business names.
To further compound this SEO nightmare my employer's
URL was too long, too easily misspelled and completely lacked any kind of
geographical descriptiveness. If only the computer-illiterate
dealership owner had been a little creative with a good SEO domain name like
www.albanychevy.com instead of merely adding a dot-com to the family's business
moniker. It was no mystery why www.vonheimlichchevrolet.com
(fictitious name) wasn't getting any hits!
Then there was that Chevy dealership in Michigan with
the exact same company name as
ours. These relatives of our owner had not only developed
somewhat of an Internet presence but had a more concise URL, to boot. They were nice enough to
forward misdirected e-mail inquiries but I'm certain that many potential customers simply
got lost in the shuffle.
How did these and other serious SEO issues get resolved?
How did we get from zero web presence to top Google, Yahoo and MSN search results
in over 30 desired key search phrase categories within our first year
online?
How did the dream of over 200 web-assisted new and used
car sales per month become reality?
It would take volumes to explain the exact amount of
study, creative effort, persistence and daily tweaking needed to get that
website to the top spot in most of our important keyword searches.
But we are eager to share, in depth, our
acquired knowledge and skills to help you overcome any obstacles that
may be preventing productive e-commerce.
More recently, similar SEO results have been realized
by other e-finders automotive accounts and by such diverse website owners
as a rock band, an online motor sports publication and various consulting
and marketing firms.
Proper uncomplicated website design and Search Engine
Optimization are the only way to resolve indexing and recognition issues.
We're ready to carefully discuss your problems and to work hard to solve
them quickly and at a reasonable cost.
