Cairo
NY -- Think you need to see 'Riserva' on the label to get the best
Chianti? Think all Sangiovese grape-based wines are dry?
Think you
can't get a great Chianti in the $10 to $15
price range?
Think again.
Just find yourself a
bottle of Da Vinci Chianti Toscana and get the pasta water boiling.
Right now the 2005
vintage is prevalent. But this wonderful Tuscan wine is so uniform
from year to year that even the very best vintage sampled, the
2004, is just slightly more remarkable, making it very difficult to
sense the difference.
What makes this
Chianti so nice?
Without being fruity,
a pleasantly sweet grape taste with just a hint of cherries is
pervasive. Not quite what you're expecting when you inhale the
slightly earthy dry Sangiovese signature aroma in the glass.
The finish is just as
pleasant, with the grape/cherry flavor having no sudden change-over to
dryness or acidity. You can enjoy plenty of acidy marinara or fra
diavolo over your pasta when it's paired with a glass of this Chianti.
Da Vinci Chianti
Tuscana is a sweet -- just sweet enough --
wine with a sweet
price tag. Great bang for the
buck so hand over the money!
